Enhancing equity, diversity and inclusion at the Royal Osteoporosis Society

Overview

In 2024, The People Choreographer (TPC) partnered with the Royal Osteoporosis Society (ROS) to support their commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.

Through a series of interactive sessions, TPC helped ROS staff and managers gain a deeper understanding of unconscious bias, diversity improvement strategies, and their responsibilities under the Equality Act. The sessions also covered key policy updates, including the new sexual harassment guidelines.

All-staff conference, July 2024

A highly engaging presentation on unconscious bias and EDI, tailored to ROS's mission. It challenged attendees to reflect on their own biases, opened up diversity discussions, and shared best practice from TPC's experience. Attendees described it as enjoyable and thought-provoking.

Line manager workshop, October 2024

A follow-up for leadership and line managers covering the new sexual harassment guidelines, confidence in navigating the Equality Act, and practical management skills through real-world case studies.

Outcomes

  • Greater awareness of unconscious bias across all staff levels
  • Improved manager confidence in addressing EDI issues
  • Policies aligned with the latest sexual harassment and Equality Act guidance
  • Actionable strategies for promoting diversity in public-facing communications
The session was enjoyable and really challenged my unconscious biases. I've learned how I can make tangible improvements in my work to support diversity at ROS.
